USPA report highlights growth: Membership up 10% to 1,917 in 2024

The United States Padel Association (USPA)’s first annual report has revealed new figures showing the spectacular expansion of the sport across the country.

In the latest sign of the continued strong growth of padel in the US, the United States Padel Association (USPA) has revealed that its membership grew by 10% to 1,917 in 2024.

The data has been made available in the USPA’s first annual report, released on January 17.

The figure follows a huge jump from 394 members in 2022 to 1,742 in 2023, and an increase from 163 members back in 2020, representing a compound annual growth rate of 85% over the past four years.

In the report, the USPA, whose individual membership comprises players and coaches, said the growth since 2020 “reflects a remarkable trajectory, showcasing a vibrant and expanding community.

“The jump from 394 members in 2022 to 1,742 in 2023, followed by a continued increase in 2024, underscores the growing enthusiasm and adoption of padel across the country.”

The USPA pointed to figures from Playtomic’s latest Global Padel Report showing that at the end of 2023, an estimated 100,000 people were playing padel in the country.

“This surge is attributed to new club construction, enhanced club facilities, increased visibility through major tournaments, and effective outreach programmes aimed at engaging diverse demographics and players of all abilities,” the USPA report said.

“All of this is amplified by the USPA’s community of over 9,000 followers on social media. Our growth is really just beginning.”

The USPA also revealed that at the end of 2024 it had 53 member clubs across the country, with 32 ‘premier’ clubs, 13 ‘official’ clubs and eight ‘registered’ clubs.

“This network underpins our membership growth, providing members with access to high-quality facilities and promoting padel across different communities,” it said.

“The strategic distribution and certification levels of these clubs play a crucial role in fostering a competitive and social environment that is accessible to players at all levels, significantly contributing to the sport’s growing popularity and reach.”
