  • 🇸🇪 Kramfors municipality sparks controversy with €52,000 investment in padel courts

    The Kramfors municipality in central Sweden has sparked controversy by investing almost SEK600,000 (€52,000) in an indoor sports facility featuring two padel courts. The site also has a tennis court and a space for taekwondo. The move has led to fears it will compete with the privately owned Padel Rink in Uusimaa, around 17km from Kramfors.

  • 🇺🇸 Miami Open to feature new Publix Padel Cup and build three padel courts 
    The Miami Open tennis tournament has announced that this year’s edition will feature the Publix Padel Cup, a new professional padel competition which will take place at Hard Rock Stadium on March 27-30. Three padel courts will be built on the Miami Open campus by new tournament partner Padel Lux.

  • 🇮🇳 Bollywood star Sohail Khan unveiled as owner of new World Padel League team
    The Mumbai-based tournament World Padel League has announced that the Indian actor, writer and director Sohail Khan has become the owner of Team Panthers through his film production company Sohail Khan Entertainment. The Bollywood star’s team will make its debut at this year’s event, which takes place on February 5-8 and will feature 32 players across four teams.

  • 🇬🇧 Soul Padel to build first padel courts at Loughborough University 
    UK operator Soul Padel is making a £150,000 investment to bring padel to Loughborough University for the first time after agreeing to construct two new padel courts and a clubhouse at the university’s campus. The facility is set to open in late Q1 2025. Loughborough is regarded as the world’s leading academic institution for sports-related subjects.

  • 🇬🇧 Bradford to get first dedicated padel facility with five-court site
    Bradford is set to have its first dedicated padel facility after plans were approved by the local council for the conversion of a unit at the West Yorkshire city’s Beckside Business Park into five indoor padel courts. A planning application for the project was submitted last year by Fahad Qureshi.

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), the governing body for tennis and padel in the UK, has begun a partnership with the British-owned reigning Hexagon Cup champions Team AD/vantage.
